Greetings Columbia Families,

As we embrace November, a season known for gratitude and togetherness, I want to take a moment to recognize and thank our dedicated school community.

A huge thanks to everyone who supported our PTA’s recent Read-A-Thon fundraiser! Your enthusiasm makes a direct difference in our school. The funds raised allow our PTA to extend resources and opportunities for our students, going beyond what school funds alone can provide.

We also honor our veterans this month. November 11 is Veterans Day, and we are especially grateful for the veterans within our Columbia community. We deeply appreciate your service, and we thank you for your invaluable contributions. This year we will be recognizing and celebrating our veterans in classrooms with grade level gatherings. We are looking forward to hearing about veterans’ experiences and allowing students to ask them questions.

November also brings an important opportunity for collaboration through parent-teacher conferences. This is a wonderful time to connect with your child’s teacher, gaining insight into their progress and exploring ways to support them at home. Conferences will take place November 25–27, and students will not attend school on these days. If you haven’t yet, please mark your calendar and take a look at our article, Getting the Most Out of Conferences, for helpful tips to prepare. Come ready to ask questions, share thoughts, and join us in fostering a supportive learning environment for your child.

Finally, for those celebrating Thanksgiving on November 28, I wish you a joyful holiday filled with cherished moments. And to each Columbia family, may this month bring you special times with loved ones to reflect on the many things for which we can be thankful.

Warmest regards,
Mr. Denton

Cougar Attendance Matters!
Did you know that just TWO absent days a month can make it harder for your student to stay on track? We care about your student's attendance! If you need support, please call us at (425) 366-2600. If your student is absent, please contact our 24 Hour attendance line at (425) 366-2605. Please include: Student First and Last Name, Date of absence, and Reason for absence. We will only return your call if we have questions.

Early Pick-Up
If your child will be leaving early, families/guardians need to send a note, email the teacher or call the office on the main line at 425-366-2600. (Avoid calling between 8:45-9:15 AM) Please do not leave a message on the attendance line. Please avoid picking up during their lunch, recess or time with specialists, as it may take extra time to retrieve your student. Only an authorized person may take a child from school. Any student being dismissed prior to the regular dismissal time must be met in the office and must be signed out by the parent/guardian or authorized person picking them up.

Pre-Arranged Absence
Any absence not specifically covered, such as family vacations or other extended absence, must have a Principal approved pre-arranged absence form in order to be excused. This form must be submitted to the school office one week prior to the scheduled absence.
