From the Principal

Greetings Columbia Families,

As we welcome November—a month of gratitude, reflection, and community—I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each of you for the many ways you contribute to making Columbia a supportive learning environment.

A huge thank you goes out to everyone who participated in and supported our PTA’s recent Read A Thon fundraiser! Your generosity and enthusiasm directly enrich our students’ experiences. The funds raised will help our PTA continue to provide programs, materials, and opportunities that go above and beyond what our school budget can offer.

This month, we also take time to honor and celebrate our nation’s veterans. On Friday, November 7, we will hold a Veterans Day Assembly to recognize those who have served. This special event will give our students an opportunity to express gratitude and learn about the sacrifices and dedication of the men and women who have defended our country. We are proud to have several veterans within our Columbia community, and we look forward to coming together as a school to show our appreciation.

Later this month, Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place November 24–26. These meetings are an important opportunity to connect with your child’s teachers, discuss their progress, and set shared goals for continued growth. I encourage you to prepare a few questions or topics in advance—whether about academic progress, social development, or strategies for support at home. You can find helpful ideas in the article, Getting the Most Out of Conferences.

Finally, as we approach Thanksgiving on November 27, I wish all our Columbia families a season filled with warmth, reflection, and gratitude. May you find time to rest, celebrate, and appreciate the people and experiences that bring meaning to your lives.
Thank you, as always, for being such an integral part of our Columbia community. Your partnership helps us create a school where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to learn.

Warmest regards,
Mr. Denton
