Dear Columbia Families,

As we move into February, I want to take a moment to reflect on the values that continue to shape our school community. In January, our school-wide character trait was kindness, and it has been wonderful to see students practicing this through their words, actions, and support for one another. These small, daily acts of kindness truly make a big difference in how our school feels.
This month, students are learning about being a good friend—what it means to include others, show empathy, listen, and stand by one another. Friendship skills are essential not only for social growth, but also for helping students feel a strong sense of belonging at school. When students feel connected and supported, they are more confident, engaged, and ready to learn.
February can be a challenging month with winter weather and busy schedules, but consistent attendance remains very important. Being at school each day helps students maintain friendships, stay connected to classroom learning, and continue building the positive routines that support success. We truly appreciate your partnership in helping students arrive at school regularly and on time.
Together, by reinforcing kindness, friendship, and the importance of showing up, we continue to build a school community where every student feels valued, included, and supported. Thank you for all you do to help make our school such a caring and connected place to learn.

Warm regards,
Bruce Denton
