A Note From Our Principal:

Walk, Roll, and "Drive to Five" This October!
One of the best parts of an elementary school community is seeing students arrive each morning talking with friends, getting exercise, and developing independence. That's why we're excited to continue our Walktober Wednesdays tradition.

Each Wednesday in October, you are invited to meet at the Mukilteo Library at 8:20 a.m. and enjoy a group walk or roll to school. Everyone is welcome to join, but students MUST be accompanied by a grownup. This is a fun way to connect with other families, get some fresh air, and start the school day energized.

This event is also a great reminder that walking to school doesn't have to be limited to Wednesdays. Whenever possible, consider walking from home or trying a "Drive to Five" routine by parking a short distance away and walking the rest of the trip. These small opportunities help children develop confidence, responsibility, and healthy habits. It also helps them arrive ready to learn while reducing traffic congestion around our campus.

A friendly reminder: if you are joining our Walktober Wednesday group, please plan to park at the Mukilteo Library rather than in the school parking lot. Our parking lot is extremely busy and at capacity each morning. We need to reserve available spaces for staff members and families who require school access.
Thank you for helping us promote healthy habits, greater student independence, and a safer, smoother arrival experience for everyone. We look forward to seeing you on our Walktober Wednesday walks!

In partnership,
Mr. Denton

Important Lunchroom Update:

A paper with a drawing of a pig stands on a stainless steel food warmer in a cafeteria.
This year, the Mukilteo School District has increased the amount of Pork on the menus. For those families that do not eat pork, please help us help your children by following these suggestions:
  • Review the monthly menus with your child. (Breakfast and Lunch)
  • Coach your child on the importance of being mindful with their meal choices instead of just taking what other kids are having.
  • Encourage your child to look for the PIG picture in our cafeteria as a clue that we are serving a pork item and avoid it.
  • If your student is in Kinder or 1st grade, please communicate any diet issues with their teachers so they can help support them in the lunch line.
Here is the link to the district's menus so you can view them online or print them out for home. We also have hard copies in our office if you would like to pick one up.

Columbia Drama Club:

A graphic features the text 'THE DRAMA CLUB' in bold red letters, surrounded by yellow stars on a light background.
Auditions for the Jungle Book will be held at Columbia in the Music Room, on Monday, Oct 12th and Wednesday, Oct 14th from 3:40pm to 5:10pm. Auditions are open to 3rd-5th grades only. Students must have their families sign an audition application form and return it to Ms. Roberts before Oct 12th. Students can ask their teacher for an application, get one from the office, or get one from Ms. Roberts.

During auditions our Drama Club staff will be casting students for roles in the Jungle Book.   If your student is selected for the musical you will be given an acceptance letter to sign and return. This "Disney Musical in Schools" production will run for 17 weeks every Monday and Wednesday from right after school until 5:10 pm.
No transportation is provided so families will need to pick students up promptly at 5:10pm.

If your student has other obligations that conflict with our 5:10pm end time we will NOT allow early release from the Drama Club.  Your family will have to make a choice between activities.  Leaving early interferes with the progress of the show.
